Despacito is a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi Luis Fonsi, who is a Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed at the time within less than six weeks. In 2017, the song Despacito, a mixture of pop music with reggaeton, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four songs in the year 2016. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish tracks which made it into the top 100. In 2020, it was 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. In the following months, several artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars like Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the trend of their genre to the mainstream. Yet, a young generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. The genre often incorporated electronic dance and other styles.
