Portia Lee James DeGeneres, known professionally by her pseudonym Portia de Rossi, is a famous Australian-American model, actor, and philanthropist. Her name was changed legally when she was 15and adopted the name 'Portia' from the Shakespearean production 'The Merchant of Venice' and adopting the Italian designation 'de-Rosi' which she considered to be attractive. Portia states that she believes it is the bravest thing she's done. It was her struggle with sexuality drove her to alter her name. Portia began her journey in the film industry with the romantic comedy drama 'Sirens,' appearing alongside Hugh Grant.
